GEDCOM Note
Darren, Joe was born Justus Heinrich Krug on 14 Jan 1850, Prussia. According to the Filby's Passenger List vol 20 and 29, I found he boarded at Bremmen and Sailed on the ship New York, arriving in NewYork on 19 Aug 1867. He became a citizen on 16 Oct 1872 Superior Court Cook County. He returned to Germany and is shown as arriving in New York, again on the ship New York, on May 10, 1873 with Magdalena Berthel. They were married by Oranzo Leavens, JP in Lostant on 15 Dec 1873. She was born Dec 1852. They lived in Lostant, according to my grandfather's birth, they may have lived in Streator. They came to Ottawa in March of 1891 and lived at the Pitstick farm which then belonged to Elizabeth Henry. They purchased a farm north of Ottawa about 1906 (my sisters and I own this property now, no buildings). In 1921 they moved to Marquette st in Ottawa, Lena died in 1928. Joe died in July of 1936, according to the coroner's inquest, of heat prostration. The temperture for two weeks straight was between 95 and 110. They are buried in Ottawa Ave. Cemetery.
They had 11 children, one died as an infant. Henry, Anna, Joseph, William, Charles, Lena, Emma (infant death), August, John, Louis, and Mena.

Henry and August, ended up in Texas; Joe, Jr, died in 1930.
