About Kaila Bernstein
Rosenstein "Little is known about Kaila, daughter of Mordecai Kalwaryiski-Margolis. Her husband, David Bernstein, is noted to have changed his name to Zirilstein to avoid the mandatory military service of his day. This was a well-known practice among the Jews of that period.
The couple later settled in Berlin, Germany, where David was recorded living in 1875 (see "Toldot Anshei Shem" by David Tebele Efrati, page 23).
Two of their children, Hinde (named after her maternal grandmother) and Israel Samuel, married Margolis first cousins. Their families settled in New York City.
Their daughter, Ida Schoolberg, settled in England.
