About Kalle Abraham Halmekangas
Kalle Halmekangas and his son Sulo made skis while in Finland and skied across Sweden to get to the ship to take them to America. They were escaping Finland so Sulo would not have to serve in the Russian army.
Grandpa was a carpenter just like my father. He was also a farmer. He lived on a farm when he first moved to Vermont. When he lived in our "Little House", I remember working with him. He dug potatoes and I put them in the bags. - Dorothy Moore (Kangas), Charles granddaughter
