• Sonja Haraldsen, (born 4 July 1937 as Sonja Haraldsen in Oslo ) is the Queen of Norway . Queen Sonja is the daughter of Karl August Haraldsen ( 1889 - 1959 ) and Dagny Haraldsen, born Ulrichsen ( 1898 - 1994 ). She married Crown Prince Harald on 29 August 1968 and then became Norway's Crown Princess.

Karl August Haraldsen (born 5 April 1889 in Solum , Skien , [1] died 9 March 1959 in Oslo [2] ) was a Norwegian clothing retailer and manager. He was the father of Queen Sonja of Norway .

Haraldsen was the son of ship captain Halvor Haraldsen ( 1854 - 1931 ) and Karete Josefine Nilsen ( 1854 - 1939 ). He grew up in Solum (now Skien ). Later he became the owner and manager of the women's clothing store Karl A. Haraldsen AS in central Oslo.

On May 22, 1920 , he married Dagny Ulrichsen , from Marensro in Skien . They later moved to the villa property Tuengen allé 1 B on Vinderen in Oslo. The Haraldsen couple first became parents in 1921 , to their son Haakon Haraldsen (stepfather of Pia Haraldsen ), then in 1924 to Gry Henriksen (mother of Dag Swanstrøm who was previously CEO of Synnøve Finden ). In 1929 they had a son, Karl Herman, who died in a boat accident in 1936 . July 4, 1937the daughter Sonja was born who in 1968 married Crown Prince Harald and became Norway's Crown Princess.

Karl August Haraldsen died in 1959 , and was buried in Ris cemetery where his wife was also buried 35 years later in 1994 .
