About Karl Friedrich Dagobert von Kusserow
Civil War Union Army Officer. He served in the Civil War first as a 1st Lieutensnt in the 3rd New York Volunteer Light Artillery, then as a Captain in 32nd New York Volunteer Light Artillery, then finally as Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd Veterans Reserve Corps. On 5 March 1863 the Battalion was disestablished and his battery became the 32nd Independent Battery, New York Light Artillery. He mustered out 19 January 1865 in Harpers Ferry, VA and was honored by brevet to Colonel of Volunteers for meritorious service during the war on 13 March 1865. He was commissioned Lieutenant Colonel, 2nd US Veteran Volunteers 20 February 1865 and served to 30 March 1866. He died of an apoplexy (stroke) in 1879, relatively young at age 46.
