About Katharina Dorothea Boettcher

Mrs. Katharina Boettcher born Sievers past away. She was ill for two weeks. She was fortunate to have seen all her children with her. The daughter, Mrs Pastor Wilhelm Schramm from Dunburn, Sask. Can. was here for a visit. The son, Pastor Heinrich Boettcher from Strong Plain, Alberta, Can. hurried home and arrived the evening before her death and was able to pray with the beloved mother. Yes, in Mrs. Boettcher the parish lost a true soul who has taken Gods kingdom in a praying heart. -She was born on June 29th 1868 in Hannover, Germany as the oldest daughter of Heinrich Sievers and his wife Dorothea Sievers(Hoebermann). Not even 8 years old, she came with her parents to Proviso, near Chicago, 1879 they moved to Buena Vista, Iowa. The deceased was one of the first who was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Grumm. She married Mr. Ernst Boettcher in 1887 and shared with him sadness and happiness in all these years. The marriage was blessed with 10 children, who are all still alive. Her love to God was shown especially in the fact, that she has given joyful and happily her son to serve the Lord. The home of her parents and later her own home was the place to stay and visit for many pastors and strangers. Grandmother Sievers, still alive, and herself, Mrs. Boettcher, loved to put up people. Besides her husband and the 10 children and the grandmother, the deceased leaves behind 4 brothers and 3 sisters and many grandchildren and other relatives. Thinking of her will be blessed. Her pastor, F. Albrecht was doing the ceremony of giving her souless body to the earth (soil) of our holy grounds.
