Mrs. Kate Crane Gartz; Heiress of Big Fortune Altadena, Calif., May 14 (A.P.) – Death has claimed Mrs. Kate Crane Gartz, heiress of the Chicago Crane plumbing fortune and a liberal leader. Mrs. Gartz, aged 84, died Thursday night at her home, which for years had been a gathering place of liberals and social workers. Her father, Richard Teller Crane, was founder of the plumbing concern.
