Katherine Doris Borden

Quilcene resident Katherine Doris Borden died in Seattle of cancer at age 80.

She was born in Black Creek, Wis., and was a 1945 graduate of LaCross Teachers College, LaCross, Wis.

She married Richard R. Borden on Oct. 26, 1946.

Mrs. Borden moved to Washington in 1946 and, in 1951, settled in Quilcene, where she was a member of the Quilcene School Board, Royal Neighbors of America and TOPS, as well as a volunteer for many community activities.

Mrs. Borden, who was also member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Townsend, collected angels and lighthouses and enjoyed sports.

Survivors include her husband; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Leslie Wagner of Woodinville, Kathleen and Don Curtis of Kent and Karen and Ron Bard of Issaquah; sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Jim Friend of Olympia; sister Joan Harrell of Visalia, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services: Thursday, Nov. 17, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., visitation in Kosec Funeral Home, 1615 Parkside Drive, Port Townsend; Friday, Nov. 18, additional visitation in Quilcene First Presbyterian Church, 294433 Highway 101, until the 2:40 p.m., funeral at which the Revs. John Topal and Becky Anderson will officiate. A reception in the church will follow the service.

Memorials: Charity of choice. The family requests no flowers.
