Katherine C. Detre, 102, died in her sleep at Shalom Cares nursing home. She was born Katherine Woodbury Cane to Melville and Florence Cane of New York City. Katherine was an early student in the progressive Walden School, which was founded by her aunt Margaret Naumburg in 1914 and in which her mother taught art. She majored in Dance at the University of Wisconsin, taught modern dance, later became a licensed masseuse and taught yoga in Denver for many years. She remained active the rest of her years and charmed everyone she met! She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Cane Robinson, husbands Paul Lester Marcus and Roland Detre. Katherine is survived by sons, Lawrence Marcus of San Francisco CA, Daniel C. Marcus of Manhattan KS and Robert B. Marcus of Sebastopol CA, and grandson, Roland A. Marcus of Denver CO.
