Burke's indicates that Katherine is daughter of a William Sinclair of Herdmanston. This could be a brother of John, who I show as father based on World Connect info. William might have stayed at Herdmanston while John went to Polwarth. John mightalso have been known as William. Burke's may be mistaken. Since I have found no reference to William other than Burke's, I will leave it as is for now.

POST COMMENT On July 24, 2015 at 06:32GMT Alan Watson wrote:

I agree with RG's comment. The parentage shown here is wrong. I have been trying to trace Sir William Sinclair of Herdmanston. 'The Saint Clairs of the Isles' says that they were a separate group known to be present from the 11th century. Interestingly, here: http://www.archive.org/stream/saintclairsofisl00sain#page/284/mode/...

it says that Margaret, daughter of Sir William de Saint Clair married first Thomas Stewart Earl of Angus and then William Sinclair of Herdmanston.

Thomas Stewart died in 1361, so Margaret Sinclair could have been Katherine Sinclair's mother, or not.
