JOHN WYGANT, b. 1745, at Marlborough, Ulster Co., New York. Revolutionary Soldier in Lieut. Colonel Johannes Janson's Regiment, Stephen Case's Company, Ulster Co., N. Y. He m. in 1764 or 5 Katherine Powell. Her ancestors were Clement Hallock Powell, (son of Caleb3, Caleb2, Thomas1), of Brookhaven. They were Quakers and lived in Oyster Bay, L. I. They went to Westchester Co., in 1742. (See "Long Island Genealogies" by Mary Powell Bunker, Wantagh, L. I.)
