About Katie Gerhart Clemmer
Katie G. Clemmer, 99, a resident of Genesis ElderCare Center in Quakertown, formerly of Souderton, died early Sunday morning, March 31, 2002, in the center's skilled nursing unit, where she had been a patient since May of 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Raymond B. Clemmer, in March of 1962.
Born in Fruitville, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Wellington and Uneeda (Gerhart) Ziegler. She was a resident of the Souderton and Telford areas for most of her life.
Mrs. Clemmer was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry. She was employed by the former Iskins and former Sackman Brothers, both in Telford, for 10 years. In 1961, she went to work in the production department of Keller's Creamery in Harleysville, until her retirement in 1971.
In her later years, Mrs. Clemmer received recognition from the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville for her 1,000 hours of volunteer work.
She was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Souderton, where she was a member of the Sewing Circle.
She belonged to the Indian Valley Senior Adult Activity Center.
