CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND --Kevin Alva Gear, 51, of Cumberland, passed away at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013.

Born March 9, 1962, he was the son of the late Alva Ray Gear and Nellie Maxine (Sachs) Gear.

Kevin graduated from Frankfort High School in 1980. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Wiley Ford, W.Va. Kevin served in the United States Navy from 1987 to 1991.

He worked at Pattonair, D'Atris and Times News. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to be with his family. Kevin loved being at the beach and fishing.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda S. (Whitacre) Gear; his daughters, Shayna A (Gear) Holbrook and husband Devin, of LaVale, Katelyn S. Gear and Shalyn M. Gear, of Cumberland; his sister, Linda R. Ward, of Short Gap, W.Va., a granddaughter, Sophie Holbrook and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Larry Whitacre, Jeremy Whitacre, Jason Liller, Richard Schiver, Tommy Houdersheldt and Stoney Houdersheldt.

Friends will be received at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Wiley Ford, W.Va., on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Faith Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. following viewing with the Rev. Ervin Mason and the Rev. Darryl Tichinel officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
