Her parentage and marriage are confirmed by the Historia Byzantina of Michælis Ducæ Nepotis which names "Karaiulucus...Alexii Comneni imperatoris Trapezuntini gener" as ruler in "vicinus Lazis ac Persis"[195]. Kuršankis dates the marriage to [1422] when he says that Kara Ilük conquered Karahisar, Tercan, Bayburt et Akşehir and besieged Erzincan with the help of Emperor Alexios IV[196]. If this dating is correct, her father must have been Emperor Alexios IV. There is no indication whether this daughter was legitimate or illegitimate.
