BIOGRAPHY Konrad was the son of Christoph von Hohberg, Herr zu Dippelsdorf, and Katharina von Liebenthal. The house of Hohberg, first mentioned in 1182 in the jurisdiction of the margraves of Meissen, settled in Silesia through the knight Kitzold von Hohberg, son of Dietrich von Hoberg, who established himself at Dippelsdorf in the district of Löwenberg from 1302. The family's name evolved from Hoberg to Hohberg and from 1714 to Hochberg.

First mentioned in 1453, Konrad was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a Catholic Order tracing itself back to Godefroy de Bouillon, duke of Lower-Lorraine, leader of the First Crusade. He was also a counsellor to the king of Bohemia, castellan of the castle on the Gröditzberg near Liegnitz in Lower Silesia in 1490-91, and governor of the duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer from 1512 to his death.

In 1472 Konrad married Katharina von Reibnitz, daughter of Diprand von Rybnicz and Barbara von Schaffgotsch. They had nine children, of whom Georg, Christoph and Barbara would have progeny.

Konrad, who was the great-great-great grandson of Kitzold von Hohberg, in 1509 used his large inheritance from his mother to acquire the then enfeoffed estate _(Pfandbesitz)_ of Fürstenstein, and he held numerous other estates including Dippelsdorf, Armenruh, Radmannsdorf, Giersdorf, Berbisdorf, Kupferberg, Staupitz, Rohnstock, Oelse and Harpersdorf. With Fürstenstein came the estate of Friedland on the Bohemian-Silesian border.

After Katharina's death, Konrad married Ulrike von Liebenthal, daughter of Wilrich von Liebenthal, Herr auf Armenruh, and Anna von Reibnitz, who was a daughter of Konrad's father-in-law from his second marriage to Margaretha von Lest. Their two daughters did not have progeny.

Konrad died on 31 July 1520. His eldest son Konrad had died before him, so the estate of Fürstenstein, which became the seat of the main line of the Hohberg family, passed to Konrad's second son Christoph still as an enfeoffed estate, but from 1605 it was fully owned by the family, one of the foremost in the duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer. From the time of the Reformation most members of the family were Protestant.
