It is presented and attached for background study - although it is not completely factual nor impartial. Rather lending empathy to the views and perspective of the 2nd young Koos Prinsloo and discarding perspective from his father Daan Prinsloo or any of their siblings and or cousins whom one is still alive today. This leaves a feeling of great injustice done to many family members mentioned in said writing, yet provides a good background to understanding the people and the times they lived in and lists good sources to do self investigation.

Koos (Jakobus Petrus) Prinsloo was born on 15 April 1957 in Eldoret in Kenya and moved to to South Africa with his parents in 1962. He matriculated at Hoërskool Newcastle in 1975 and completed an honors degree in Afrikaans at the University of Pretoria.

His debut collection of short stories, Jonkmanskas, was published in 1982.

From 1982 Koos Prinsloo worked as a journalist in Johannesburg; and later also as sub editor and book editor for the glossy magazine De Kat. He died on 4 March 1994 from Aids-related causes.

The four books (Jonkmanskas, Die hemel help ons, Slagplaas and Weifeling) in this collection of Koos Prinsloo’s works are now in print 25 years after his first book was published in 1982.
