About Lady Julia Percy

Lady Julia was the third born daughter of Hugh Earl Percy 2nd Duke of Northumberland. Her eldest sister Charlotte died in infancy.

Family memory passed on by Nancy McWhirter (Anderson), granddaughter of Thomas William Bates.: “Grandfather Bates's Grandmother was the Daughter of the Duke of Northumberland. The daughter married a commoner and was disinherited. Her son, who was Great Uncle John to Mum's family (The Bates), should have been Lord Percy, but he never took the title.”
