Lammert died from a farming accident. They were putting up Hay and he was on the stack. When he got off the stack, he slid down. Someone had leaned a pitch fork against the stack and lammert slid right into it. He died a few days later of Gangarene. [1997 Macon History book page 193].

Obit tells another story, that he died at the State Hospital in Hastings NE.
