In the 1865 census, the family was listed as living at Haugene Farm in Aardal Parish. The two oldest sons, Lars and Johannes were listed as being servants at Bøyum Farm.

Lasse had a 'plass' on Bøyum-Svad. He was also a shoemaker.

Våtevik is a farm/place at far north end of the Fjærlandsfjord, near the seashore. It is located at some distance from the Bøyum farm, but not very far.
