Laura Lucille DeCoigne Schorge

ADAMS -- Lucille Schorge, 89, of Sugar Hill Assisted Living in Dalton, formerly of 11 Pinnacle Lane, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in North Adams on Jan. 14, 1918, daughter of Edward and Laura Vandenburg Nephew, she attended the former Notre Dame School and the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams.

Mrs. Schorge was employed by Aladco, retiring in 1976 with 10 years of service. She worked for many years with her first husband, Frederick DeCoigne, at their business, Freddie's News, on Myrtle Street. Before that, she was employed by the former Wall Street Shoe Co. in North Adams for 20 years. She also worked for many years at the former Ed's Lodge restaurant on Pleasant Street.

She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was also a longtime member of the Lanesborough Senior Citizens, and loved to travel and play bingo.

Mrs. Schorge's first husband, whom she married Sept. 15, 1945, died July 30, 1976.

Her husband, Ralph Schorge, whom she married Nov. 30, 1981, died July 14, 1982.

She leaves a daughter, Barbara Bessette of Cheshire; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lucille Schorge, who died Saturday, April 28, 2007, also leaves a son-in-law, Thomas Bessette; two granddaughters, Rebecca Sadlow and her husband, Michael, of Windsor and Trisha Bessette of South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Miranda Sadlow; and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being with her family.

The funeral will take place Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
