Attached is the only other picture I have of Leah Beetle Schlagel. I have seen her name spelled Lea and Leah, and her maiden name spelled Beadle or Beetle. Kermit Roe (son of Thomas and Priscilla Roe) wrote that she was only 3 years of age when Annahardt (her mother) died. She was left with her Aunt Lydia Barickman when her father (John Beetle) and her siblings left Pennsylvania and ended up in Minnesota. I did find her on the 1860 Census, Butler, Butler, Pennsylvania; a 16 year old Leah "Beadle" was living with a Peter and Lydia Barackman and listed as a "servant" in their household. According to Kermit Roe her father was John Beetle who was born in Germany and her mother was Annahardt Transhew (daughter of Melchoir & Elizabeth Transhew). I have not been able to find any additional information on either or them, or the Transhew line. Have wondered if the name wasn´t Henshaw instead of Transhew, because I have found the family name of Henshaw" mentioned in documents associated with Butler, Pennsylvania, but haven´t spent a lot of time researching it yet.
All for now

68intl April 26 2010 8:26 PM GMT Leah Beetle can be found with her parents on the 1850 Census for Donegal, Butler County, PA. They were John Beidel and Esther. I believe Esther is also called "Hettie." I believe she is Hettie Transue, daughter of Melchoir Transue and Elizabeth Kriedler. Regards, Joyce L.
