About Leo Posnansky
was born in Dnieperpetrovsk, the Ukraine. He loved music, and both of the Posnansky children played piano. He worked for the Farband (Labor Zionist Order) in New York. Bernie, Yitzchak and Aryeh were in the fur business together for a time. Regina and Aryeh were modest, kind people who passed on a legacy of humanity to their children, who in turn taught these lessons to the offspring. Worldly possessions were unimportant and they never complained. Manja relates one of her parents’ life lessons, words to live by that have been proved correct in most cases: “People will forget what you said... they will forget what you did… but they will never forget how you made them feel....” The nieces remember baking with Regina, and still enjoy her cookie and nut-cake recipes. Regina and her sister-in-law Yehudit were very close friends through their entire adult lives and worked together in Klein’s department store for 30 years. They moved to adjacent apartments in Co-op City in the late 60’s, and Morris later moved to their building.
After Aryeh and Yehudit passed away, Regina and Yitzchak spent their remaining years in the Hebrew Home in Riverdale, and were joined there by Bernie.
