Leon Arditi

Leon Arditi was a nephew from my father. He used to write from Salonica to Paraguay about him and his family. Even he sent a picture that I remember very well where I saw him with his wife and a young boy Samuel. Leon was an electritian.

Salonica was occupied by the german nazis. In 1st of March 1943 almost the entire jewish population was deported to the concentration camp Aucshwitz. Before the deportation every one was compelled to fill a form and to write down the personal identification of every family: name. address and the profession. From then on we lost contact with him. In the year 2000 I read in the Internet a list a list of all the jews that were from Salonica and perished in Auschwitz. . In the list were two Leon Arditi. . The data most exact I received from the publication about the jews from Greece and sourrandings by the renown author Aure Recanati, from France who recollected all the data of the forms that the Nazis used and where the deported was obliged to fill before the deportation. All this data was recolected from all the forms taken by the american army after the defeat of the Nazi army. In her book I found 26 persons with the family name Arditi. One of them was Leon Arditi and his occupation electritian. In the form filled by Leon were his wife Daisy, his mother Reina and his son Samuel. All of them perished in the holocaust
