Leonard was one of the earliest settlers of Wethersfield, CT. He was the son of Edward [SIC - unknown], who came from England to Watertown, MA, in the fleet with Gov. Winthrop in 1630. Leonard was Constable, 1672, Surveyor of Highways, 1684. His Will dated March 24, 1696, provides for his wife, Sarah, and bequeaths to two sons, John and Samuel, and to three daughters, Mercy, Hannah, and Elizabeth. His personal estate consisted of a horse, two cows, a heifer, swine, and a large number of agricultural implements and technical tools, a great basket, along fowling piece, swords, belts, household goods etc. all appraised at 53 lbs; his indebtedness 3 lbs.
