Cohen, Leopold Wolfe (Leo) (1872–1969)
Walter Leopold Cohen was in London at the outbreak of the Boer War and fought with the City of London Imperial Volunteers.
RETURN OF MR. L. WOLFE COHEN.
Among those who have recently returned from the war in South Africa is Mr. Leopold Wolfe Cohen, son of Mr. G. J. Cohen, merchant, of this city. Mr. L. W. Cohen, who left Australia 11 years ago for a mercantile training in London, on the out-break of the war joined the City of London Imperial Volunteers, and as an artilleryman served for seven or eight months, for a considerable part of the time in different directions within 20 or 30 miles around Pretoria. Mr. Cohen holds the certificate of the freedom of the city of London, whose Court of Common Council thus marked their appreciation of the patriotism of its members in enlisting for service in the Imperial Army.
