About Lester Nelson Lee
Lester Nelson Lee was born December 18, 1911, in McGill, White Pine, Nevada, to John Raymond Lee and Annie Eliza (Keele) Lee. He was a Navy Seaman 2nd Class, and died August 10, 1943, at sea in the South Pacific on board the cruiser Astoria. He was named on a monument at Fort William McKinley in Manilla, Philippines, and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was also named on a monument in Ely, Nevada, to soldiers killed in wars who were from White Pine County. The monument was dedicated in 1996, and he is listed there as Lester N. Lee. The above photo of Lester is from the website Ancestry.com, and was shared there on November 9, 2013, by Amber Crooks. There is another photo under the Media Tab above, which shows the entire family of John Raymond Lee, which was taken at a family reunion in Tooele, Utah. Pictured are the following:
Back row, left to right, Lester Lee, (his photo was inserted), Mae Lee Munson, Guy Lee, Dessie Lee, Jesse Lee, James Horald Lee, Estella Lee Edwards, and Melba Lee Claussen. In the front row, left to right are Ada Lee Griffiths, Myrtle Lee Kesler, John Raymond Lee, Mary Lowe Lemon Lee, (his second wife), Birdetta Lee Mickelson, Marge (Margaretta) Lee. I would estimate the photo was taken in the late 1950's or early 1960's. John is holding a photograph of his first wife, Annie Eliza (Keele) Lee, who was the mother of these children. The photo was found on a blog about John Raymond Lee:
