Reverend Levi ADKINS, born 20 Feb 1794 in TN; died 30 Mar 1877 in Andersonville, Anderson Co, TN. He was the son of Elijah ADKINS and Nancy Ann HUNTER. He married Elizabeth GEORGE 08 Jul 1813 in Knoxville, Knox Co, TN.
Elizabeth GEORGE, born 04 Mar 1795 in Stokes Co, NC; died 20 Mar 1879 in Andersonville, Anderson Co, TN. She was the daughter of Travis GEORGE, Sr. and Diana GREER.
Notes for Levi ADKINS:
Levi Adkins and Elizabeth members of Hinds Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Anderson County in the early 1800's. Levi was received in 1821 and in 1822 he was appointed a delegate to the association. Also in 1822 Elizabeth was received by experience. However, in June of 1824 he and Elizabeth were part of the church dismissed as a group to form Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Knox County.

Levi ADKINS was a well-known Baptist minister. He was one of the organizers of Bethel and Red Hill Churches in Anderson County and of Milan Baptist Church in Union County. Licensed to preach by Bethel Church in 1842, he served as its pastor from 1849 until 1865, shepherding a reported membership of 119 in 1853. He was the first pastor of Milan Baptist church and was moderator of the Clinton Association 1864-1869. He also pastored Bethany and Graveston Churches. He died on March 20, 1887, in Anderson, Tennessee, at the impressive age of 93, and was buried in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Norris, Tennessee.
