Weaver, assessor, and town trustee of Amagansett. He purchased a home lot and four acres there from James Barbour in 1703, and later the same year another ten acres from William Edwards, Junior. Lewis and his brother David Conkling purchased additional land from Nathaniel Bishop and John Shaw in 1706, in addition to which Lewis owned a £10 right at Montauk. In 1712 he witnessed the will of Jacob Schellinger, and along with Ananias Conkling and Thomas Edwards he was named an executor of Josiah Edwards' will in 1713. In 1715 he served in Capt. Mathias Burnet's militia company of East Hampton. According to Rev. Nathaniel Hunting's record, Lewis Conkling died about 5 o'clock A.M. on Oct. 2, 1746.
