She is survived by two sons, Robert "Bob" Hopson and wife, Debbie, of Cary; and Edmond "Ed" Hopson, III, of Atlanta; one brother, Frank Oakley, of Durham and three grandsons, Matthew, Andrew and Evan Hopson, all of Cary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond B. Hopson.

Mrs. Hopson was a native and lifelong resident of Durham and was the daughter of the late Frank Benjamin Oakley, Sr. and Cara Horton Oakley. She attended Lowes Grove Schools. She retired in 1983 after 25 years of service, from Monsanto Industries as a secretary. Mrs. Hopson was a lifelong member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Ruth Bible Class. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
