Lillian R Sponseller

Lillian Sponseller Aug. 25, 1913 March Lillian Hester Sponseller, 82, of Jamestown died at her home Monday after a long illness. Mrs. Sponseller was bom in Kennett, an old mining town in Shasta County, and lived in the Bay Area most of her life. She graduated from Red Bluff Union High School and the University of California at Berkeley. She also studied at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. In 1938, she married John F. Sponseller. He died in 1976. Mrs. Sponseller moved to Tuolumne County 16 years ago. Since then, she had been an active volunteer with Interfaith Community Social Services, Clothes Closet, Christmas Partners and various adult literacy projects. LILLIAN SPONSELLER A story in the Dec. 14, 1988, Union Democrat recognized her contributions to the Reading Enhancement for Adult Development (READ) program, to which she volunteered mmy hours as a tutor. Mrs. Sponseller was a member of the Jamestown and Sonora Methodist Churches. She is survived by her son,- William A. Sponseller of her daughters, Jacquelyn Rambo of Iowa md Dym Sponseller of her grandson, John Foster Sponseller of her granddaughters, Katherine and Christina Lindhart of Iowa, ■Diane “D. J." Sponseller of and Dylan Sponseller of her sisters, Edna of Alameda md Bertha Ron- lake of Southem California; md her brothers, Clarence Hester of to and Richard Hester of Fair Oaks. A memorial service for family md friends will be held on Good Friday, April 5, at the Sponseller Ranch in Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Remembrances may be made to any favorite charity.
