About Lilly Maria Leopoldine Hofer-Ehrenreich
Lilly Ehrenreich studied acting at the Imperial Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna following in the footsteps of her late brother Richard Ehrenreich, who had become an opera singer. Lilly’s first public performances were at the Academy before taking on roles at Max Reinhardt’s Theater in der Josefstadt. In 1925, Lilly became known by her married name Hofer. A year later, Lilly was acting in Cologne, Germany and becoming an ensemble member at the Stadttheater Münster while living at Königsstraße 45 in Münster. After 1933 Lily cannot be traced. Her father Dionys Ehrenreich (1853-1926) was Jewish.
Like her brother Richard, Lilly also excelled at sport and competed not only in tennis in Vienna as a member of the Cottage Eislaufverein (Skating Club) but also in fencing as a member of the Residenz-Fechtklub.
