Lindsay McMorris

Lindsay was born in either Frederick or Fauquier Co, Virginia. He is buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, Shelby Co, IL.

Lindsay was born in Frederick Co, VA; migrated to Ohio in 1827; married Martha in 1830. Lindsay and Martha moved to Shelby Co, IL in 1839 and settled on a farm near where Tower Hill is today. These were pioneer times and the wild deer were a considerable menace to the crops as they ate them and trampled them. The nights were filled with panther shrieks and wolf howls. Martha died in 1846, and he then married Elizabeth Moseley in 1849. She had previously been married to William Killiam. In about 1860 they moved to another farm that's now located in Ridge (Shelby County, IL).
