About Ljisbeth Pieters Van de Water

Husband Benjamin van de Water came to New Amsterdam 1651. He purchased property there with the intention of sending for his family to make a new life for them in America. Benjamin died January 13, 1653 in New Amsterdam. Following his death, Elizabeth married Walewijn van der Veen. Benjamin had 5 children with Elizabeth. She came to New Amsterdam with only three sons, to settle the estate. The two other children stayed in Holland. During the next twenty to thirty years Elizabeth made several trips between America and the Netherlands caring for her children in both places. We have identified sons Jacob, Johannes and Pieter as residents in New Amsterdam. (We therefor assume that son Abraham and daughter Maria stayed in Holland). (To be further researched)
