Lodie Grobler (1984 - 2011)

Brief overview:

Lodie (27), who worked in the butchery department at Cambridge Wholesalers in Ladybrand, was stabbed to death in front of his mother-in-law, shoppers and co-workers, on 14th January 2011. He was stabbed several times in the stomach, then walked out of his office and collapsed and died.

Christine Botha, Lodie's mother-in-law, said, "We immediately closed the store and left the customers out. Only a few employees remained. They were hysterical, I felt so sorry for them."

Lt. Col. Thandi Mbambo said that the suspect, an employee who had appeared in a disciplinary hearing earlier in the day and was dissatisfied with the outcome, and handed himself over to police shortly after the attack.
