Lord Henry Murray was born on 13 June 1767.1 He was the son of Sir John Murray, 3rd Duke of Atholl and Lady Charlotte Murray, Baroness Strange.1 He married Eliza Kent, daughter of Richard Kent, on 8 December 1786.1 He died on 3 December 1805 at age 38.1

Lord Henry was the son of the 3rd duke of Atholl. He was a soldier and administrator. He was the Colonel in chief of the Manx Fencibles 1795-1802. He had a son William James Athol Strange with his older Jewish mistress when he was 18 in 1783. In 1786 he married Eliza Kent and had a family with her. He was the fourth Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man.
