Lorna Nielson

Lorna Nielson, 93, of Richfield, Utah, passed away November 29, 2009, in Monroe. She was born March 29, 1916, in Inverury (Central Valley), Utah, to George Asa and Clara Sorensen Staples. She married John William Nielson on March 28, 1937 in Central Valley. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, on June 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1999.

Lorna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a visiting teacher and primary teacher. She also served on the Sevier Valley Tech Advisory Board. She spent several years in bridge clubs and enjoyed her many close friends. She owned and operated Lorna's Beauty Salon for over 35 years. Lorna played golf and was an avid fan of the Jazz and "The BYU" sports. She loved beautiful things and was an elegant, regal woman who was greatly loved and admired. She was very proud of her family and felt she had the best family. She loved them all dearly.

She is survived by her sons, John Lee (Rhonda) Nielson, Salt Lake City; David Staples (Glenda) Nielson, Central Valley; and Asa Staples (Karla) Nielson, Orem; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Luana Nielson, Richfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; sisters, Lula Peterson and Virginia Nielson; brothers, Paul Staples and Bert Staples.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 S. 100 W., Richfield. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again at the mortuary on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
