Lorna Wilhelmina Phelan

In 1925, she was born on a farm south of Hughenden. 3rd of 10 children. Raised on the farm durning the 30's unitl 14 finishing grade 10 then moved to Red Deer Central. Called home in the 40's to care for her Mom after her passing returned to Red Deer for work and to help her youngest brother, Cliff Mitchell go to school. Lived and worked at Mrs. Edwards Boarding Houuse for$25. 00 per month. She met Jim in 1947 and married in 1949. Cliff lived with them for a year, John was born in 1952 and Marg in 1954, both worked for John Phelan at the Phelan Hotels. 1954 Jims leg was crushed in an Oile field accident and he was in the hospital for 2 years. They built one of the first houses on Michener Hill around 1948. Grandpa had purchased 10 lots. Here career consisted of many facets from, retail to resturants she was committed her family, community and friends. Leona an Art Knopf we friends and family since 1959. Also, her home was the home for many Dan Murdock, Doug Wagar.
