West Augusta – Lorraine B. (Hewitt) Kodger, 87, of West Augusta, crossed from this life into her eternal home on Monday, February 3, 2014, at her home, under the loving care of her son Raymond.

She was born on August 4, 1926 in Caribou, Maine; she was the daughter of the late Raymond K. and Bertha G. (Gurette) Hewitt.

Prior to settling in Virginia, Lorraine and husband, Herb made many different places in the U.S. their home during his military career; 17 of those years Lorraine worked as a nurses aide. She was a dedicated member of West Augusta United Methodist Church and was an active servant for her Lord through her various roles at the church. Lorraine was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed time spent with family, friends and her pets.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Kodger; son, Christian Kodger; sister, Frances Carron; brothers, Raymond and Douglas Hewitt.

Survivors include her two loving sons, Raymond Kodger of West Augusta and Lester Kodger and wife, Lisa Kodger of Monterey; grandchildren, Melissa Kodger of Lexington, Abram Kodger of Arlington, Sarah McCarty of McDowell, and Adam Kodger of Lexington; sister, Gloria Bassich of Ocean City, MD; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at West Augusta Methodist Church with Pastors Rob Nash and Malcolm W. “Chip” Hill officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in her name may be made to Deerfield Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, P.O. Box 19, Deerfield, VA 24432.
