About Louis Eksteen
Louis Eksteen (1968 - 2013)
Brief overview:
Louis (45), was murdered in a drug related incident on 10th April 2013. Eksteen's mother Adri discovered his bloodied body in the bathroom of his home.
Juda Plekenpol (32), admitted he had bludgeoned Eksteen with a knobkerrie, tied him up and gagged him before making off with his car, cash and other goods. He claimed he had lost his temper and self-control because of Eksteen’s unwanted sexual advances and had taken his property on the spur of the moment because he needed money to fuel his drug habit.
Eksteen's mother said she had forgiven Plekenpol for what he did, even though she believed he was lying about what had happened that fateful day as her son was not gay.
Judge Tshifiwa Maumela sentenced Plekenpol to 24 years for murder and four years for robbery. Both sentences were to run concurrently, and Maumela backdated the sentence to July 2014, when Plekenpol was convicted.
