Louis-Philippe Langlais dit Serien, born August 1699 in Worcester, Mass.; died Bef. August 1728 in lanse' aux Iroquois, Canada. He was the son of 128. Digory Sargent and 129. Mary. He married 65. Marguerite DeLavoye January 22, 1717/18 in Rivier-Ouelle, PQ, Canada.

     65. Marguerite DeLavoye, born October 22, 1693 in Riviere-Ouelle, Quebec, Canada; died February 04, 1773 in Riviere-Ouelle, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of 130. Jean DeLavoye and 131. Marie-Madeleine Boucher.

Notes for Louis-Philippe Langlais dit Serien: Also known as Daniel Sargent. As stated, Daniel was carried about by the Indians and was probably about 4 years old at the time. He lived for a while with the Abenaki (Abenaquis) Indians. They "gave" him to the governor, Philippe de Rigault Vaureuil. Daniel was baptized on November 6, 1707, at the age of 8, and given the name, Louis-Philippe Sargent. This became corrupted to Serien, which is how it would have been pronounced. He had been given by this time, by the govenor, to Robert Poitter to raise and he grew up in Poitier's household. (source: Marge Howe)

More Notes: "The Langlais of Kamouraska descend from Daniel, son of Digory and Marie Sargent, also known as Louis-Philippe Langlais. On January 22, 1718 Daniel, now Louis, married in the Notre-Dame-de-liesse church, in Riviere-Ouelle, Marguerite DeLavoye. Their grandchildren, Jean-Francois, and Joseph Langlais set up in Kamouraska after their marriages. Six generations of Langlais followed one another in the parish, where there are still descendants today. (source: Pioneer Families of Kamouraska)

More Notes: Listed in Paul-Henri Hudon's book, "Riviere-Ouelle", page 56. "Louis-Philippe Langlais qui achete en 1719, de Francois Gauvin une terre de 4 par 42 arpents." It seems Louis-Philippe purchased a lot of 4 by 42 arpents (acres) of land from Francois Gauvin in 1719.

Notes for Marguerite DeLavoye: Buried on February 5, 1773 as the "Serien Widow".
