Louis Barry Solomon

Louis Barry Solomon, 78, devoted son, beloved nephew and cousin, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 in Houston, Texas. Barry, a native Houstonian, was born on April 2, 1943 to Sybil Ryemon Solomon and Meyer Solomon.

After graduating from Bellaire High School, he attended the University of Texas graduating in 1965 with a degree in Government. Classical music was Barry's passion and he loved attending the Houston Symphony. He was a frequent visitor of record stores with a classical music section and was sad to see those dwindling away to become practically non-existent. He was aware of obscure composers and performers who were very good in their craft. He enjoyed listening to his large library of vinyl albums, CDs and later Blu-Ray. Eventually he found the internet, where he watched YouTube musical performances from around the world especially enjoying live-stream performances from Eastern and Western Europe. He had been an accomplished violinist and pianist in his younger years.

Barry also had an adventurous side, traveling the world solo. He also delighted in trying out new cuisines and restaurants. Barry enjoyed teasing his younger cousins with his witty, dry sense of humor. If you caught his wit, he was sure to smile. More so, if you had a good counter. He will be missed by his family.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, I.L. Ryemon and Milton Ryemon; and one nephew, Jay William Ryemon. He is survived by his aunts, Sophie Ryemon Waldman of Houston and Adele Ryemon of Dallas; cousins, Mary Ann Ryemon (Joe Layton) of Pearland, TX, Rhonda Ryemon Cohen (Dr. Jack Cohen) of Southlake, TX, Arnold Ryemon of Austin, TX, Jan Robert Ryemon of Oak Park, CA and Stephen Ryemon of Rockledge, FL.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak, 1037 Post Oak Rd. Houston, TX 77055 with Rabbi Dan Gordon officiating.
