CHICAGO - Louis Sudler, the Chicago business and civic leader, musician, and philanthropist who was the driving force behind the worldwide eminence of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, died yesterday. He was 89.
An accomplished baritone who sang for presidents and royalty, Mr. Sudler served as president or chairman emeritus of the Orchestral Association, the parent body of the Chicago Symphony, from 1966 to 1977.
His company, now Sudler Nagy, which he founded in 1927 with his brother Carroll, manages more than 10,000 of the city's most prestigious cooperative and condominium apartments, including those in the John Hancock Center and Water Tower Place.
