Malone Area Dweller Dies at Age of 79

Mrs. Louisa Karls, 79, of Route 1, Malone, died Saturday at St. Agnes Hospital where she was a patient one day.

She was born March 6, 1891,at St. Cloud, a daughter of Frank and Mary Dreifuerst Kohlman. She was married to John Karls at St. Cloud on May 16, 1911.

The couple farmed in the Route 1, Malone, area all their married life. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1961.

Mrs. Karls was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Johnsburg, Christian Mothers and Altar Society of the Church.

Survivors include her widower; three sons, Roger of Johnsburg, Clem of Marytown and Ben of Appleton; six daughters, Mrs. Alois Forstner of St. Cloud, Mrs. Walter Mueller of Marytown, Mrs. Francis Dreifuerst of St. Joe, Mrs. Edwin Schneider of Johnsburg, Mrs. Albert Mand and Mrs. Anthony Schmitz, both of Mount Calvary.

Also surviving are 33 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Clara Berenz of St. Cloud.

Mrs. Karls was preceded in death by one child, two sisters, and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lisowe-Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg. The Rev. Robert Bier will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
