Lowell Reese Allen

Lowell Reese Allen 66, of Carmel, died peacefully on May 17, 2008 after a sudden illness. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, and a Papa who never said no to his grandkids when they wanted play "horsey." He led a life of deep integrity that was a great inspiration to his children and all who knew him. An avid duffer all his life, he had a full-ride golf scholarship in college. He also was a great devotee of classical music, and a supporter of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra since moving to the area in 1973 and giving his wife, Donna, a full subscription as a surprise gift. He was born to Lowell W. and Ellen (Byrd) Allen in Dothan, Alabama on August 20, 1941. Lowell was a graduate of Palatka High School in Palatka, FL and of the University of Florida. He was a CPA and worked many years as a partner with Coopers and Lybrand, which today is Price Waterhouse Coopers. Upon his retirement, he and Donna spent many years traveling the world, including The Holy Land, China, Alaska, Spain, and his favorite destination of all, Italy. Lowell is survived by his wife, Donna K. (Evans) Allen; son, Ted (Barry Rice) Allen; Daughter, Lisa (Mike) Martin; sisters, Joyce Franklin and Donna Countryman; and grandchildren, Cole, Tate and Megan Martin.
