About Lt. Col. John Nolan-Neylan, D.S.O.
Newspaper Cutting:
"Major J.N. Neylan, Cape Mounted Police, held Molteno for four months, with the Boer lines about 12 miles away. The retention of the place was of great importance, for it
yielded to the Free Staters, the disaffected would have joined the Boers. On the 10th March 1900 Major Neylan succeeded in saving Bethulie Bridge from destruction, and thus kept open communication with Lord Roberts. In December he was operating against Kritzinger in the Burghersdorp District."
