Katharine Newbury Manierre wrote (1905-06) that Major John Pynchon, "represented the town of Springfield, Massachusetts in the General Court 1659-62&63, and was for 21 years an assistant in it. He was spoken of and addressed as "the Worshipful —" KNM cited "a letter written by Thomas Pynchon of Springfield and copied from Pynchon records."
Do not confuse Maj. John Pynchon's son Col. John Pynchon with his grandson, whose name is also Col. John Pynchon.
