Lieut Simeon Gallup Fish
Pursuant to "The Fish Family in England and America," by Lester Warren Fish, 1948; page 310:
He was educated at Mystic and began life as a sailor, following the career of his respected father. His first voyage was in the Good Ship B.F. Hoxie, Capt. Geo. B. Crary, to Cape Horn, Callao and London. In Mystic he was associated with Maxson, Fish & Co., in ship-building.
In 1861, he enlisted in the 26th Conn. Volunteers; he was mustered out as a lieutenant in 1863. He then went with John Owen Fish & Co., of New York; in a few years he went over to the firm of Appleton, Noyes & Co., shoe dealers, of Boston. Later he was back in New York in business for himself. He was elected on the Republican ticket as selectman of Groton in 1901, and each year except one thereafter. In 1904 he was elected Town Representative. He was an active member of the Baptist Church.
