Lucinda Jane Lewis (Neve, Drew) Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Mert Lewis, who passed away Saturday evening, April 2, were held Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. from the home of Lester Lewis in Arnold and at 2:30 from the Cliff church. Rev. W. A. Farnham of Merna was in charge of the service. A choir from Cliff: church sang four beautiful old' hymns at the church and cemetery. Pallbearers were old neighbors and friends on Cliff Table. Interment in the Cliff Table cemetery.
Lucinda Jane Drew was born on December 16, 1863, in Adams Co., Wisconsin. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Samuel Neve II, and to this union were born thirteen children, eight of whom survive! their mother. Mr. Neve passed away in June, 1912.
In 1913 she was united in marriage to Mert Lewis, who survives her. In 1884 she with her family came to Nebraska, settling on East Table, where she made her home until recently.
For a considerable time Mrs. Lewis had been ailing in health and about three months ago her decline came rapidly. Despite the best of medical aid and care there seemed no chance for recovery, and on the evening of April 2 she received her final summons at the age of 68 years, 3 months, 16 days.
Always a hard worker with a large family to care for, Mrs. Lewis has passed through the hardships of the early settlers of this country.
Besides her husband and children she leaves two brothers, one sister, a large number of other re latives and a large circle of friends and neighbors.
