About Lucy Evelyn Bozarth

Double funeral services were held for Wilbur Wallace and Mrs. Lloyd Bozarth in the chapel of the Barkley Funeral home in Canton Monday, October 29, with the Rev. Virgil Graves of Philadelphia, Mo. officiating. Music was furnished by W. E. Dorris with Mrs. Marvin Zenge at the organ. Pall bearers for Mrs. Bozarth were Bill Horn, Richard Bross, Frank Gaus, Homer Gaus, Nat Henderson and Cecil Bevans. Burial was in the Ewing cemetery. Pall bearers for Mr. Wallace were Earl Veatch, Chester Hinton, Noble Allen, Carl Haldeman, David Wilson and Harvey Seavitt. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery in Ewing. Mr. Wallace and Mrs. Bozarth were killed in an automobile accident near Canton on Friday, October 26. James Wilbur Wallace, the son of David and Cora DeCoster Wallace, was born near Ewing on May 16, 1909. He had lived in Lewis County his entire life, and was a farmer before being elected to the office of sheriff. He had served in this office for the past six years. He was united in marriage to Alma Marion. Mr. Wallace was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Herman Hulsebus of Canton; a brother, Yates Wallace, of near Canton; and other relatives. Evelyn Bozarth, the daughter of J. W. and Nimmie Dunlap Glisan, was born at Ewing on November 15, 1910. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Bozarth on November 10, 1934. Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard Bozarth, with the Navy, stationed at Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Dunlap Glisan of Marshalltown, Iowa; and other relatives. Sheriff Wilbur Wallace, his sister, Mrs. Vera Marks, and their cousin, Mrs. Evelyn Bozarth, were killed in this car about noon Friday, when it collided head-on with a truck, driven by Carney Forsthove. The accident occured about three miles south of Canton, as Mr. Wallace was taking his sister to the Quincy airport so that she could return to her home in Washington, D.C. This picture was taken after the car had been brought in to the Quonset building of Martin Chevrolet Co. in Canton.
