First Obituary - From the Keokuk Advance

Mrs. Charles McDowell, who was Lucy Slocum, died at the home of her mother betwen Nira and Kinross yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, after a lingering illness from consumption. She leaves one child, perhaps six months old. The funeral service takes place this afternoon at Fairview. Lucy was known to a good many readers who will regret to hear of her untimely death.

Mrs. Lucy McDowell passed away Wednesday, June 28th. She had been a patient sufferer for some time and death came as a relief.
